Annual Celebration of Women

   Recognizing women...

Each year there is an exhibit profiling the lives of four women. Using personal letters, written and taped reminiscences, scrapbooks, family photographs, organizational records and memorabilia, the exhibit endeavours to:
  • Acknowledge both the exceptional and everyday, real life contributions of women to our economic, political, and social history; and
  • Promote awareness, appreciation, and understanding of women’s history within our community.
...with the help of the community

The success of undertaking such initiatives, however, is primarily dependent on the grassroots support of the women and their families, friends and groups within the community. Materials pertaining to everyday life are extremely difficult for archives to acquire without such support. Each year we hope that through the exhibit, we will continue to receive the public's support for our program and thus continue to enhance the scope of our rich and varied collective memory of women in our community.
